Robert Joseph Burroughs Jr., born July 17, 1935 passed Nov. 18, 2013.
He will be remembered by his daughter, Belinda Kay Harris and son-in-law Charles W. Harris Jr. of Mobile, Ala., and three grandchildren, Katie Marie Sanders of Tallahassee, Fla., and Crystal Marie Duke and Charles Harris III, both of Saluda.
Bobby Joe was born in Mathews, Va., to Robert and Margaret Burroughs of Bavon.
He learned his trade as a bricklayer in Norfolk, Va., and belonged to the Bricklayers Union. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years.
He worked and traveled in all 50 states; also worked in Baghdad, Iraq, Argentina, Venezuela, Canada, and the Philippines. He was a supervisor millwright and a refractory mason.
He retired in Mathews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Susan, with the Rev. Dede Parrish conducting the service.
