ROBERT FREDERICK LEMON

Robert “Bobby” Frederick Lemon, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully departed this earthly life to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, November 13, 2023, surrounded by love, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Va.

Born on December 25, 1952, Bobby graced the world as a Christmas Day gift, the only son to his late parents, Robert R. Lemon and Christine L. Sampson. His journey unfolded in the embrace of Gloucester Public Schools, where he cultivated lasting friendships and graduated before becoming a cherished resident of Chesterfield, Va. Bobby’s pursuit of knowledge led him to Rappahannock Community College and culminated in the attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Virginia State University (VSU).

During his time at VSU, Bobby met and confirmed his soulmate in the former Lisa Paulette Carter. After five years of dating, they exchanged vows on September 30, 1978, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey together. This union was later blessed with the arrival of three daughters, Nicole L. Wilkins, Dana M., and Gina M. Lemon.

Bobby was affectionately known for his defiant, yet loving spirit, his confidence, and his natural-born leadership. Unwilling to work for others, he carved his path and provided numerous opportunities for employment to friends and family over his extensive career as an esteemed and well-known upholstery business owner.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. Lemon and Christine L. Sampson; stepfather, Leon P. Sampson; father-in-law, Watson S. Carter, and sister, Brenda L. Gwynn. Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 45 years, Lisa C. Lemon; three daughters, Nicole L. Wilkins (Michael), Dana M. and Gina M. Lemon; two sisters, Cassandra M. Lemon and the Rev. Dr. Lisa M. Sampson; stepmother, Barbara F. Lemon; mother-in-law, Harriett A. Carter; sister-in-law, Renita C. Keyhea (Vinson); brother-in-law, Watson S. Carter II (Keisha); two granddaughters, Ava and Olivia Wilkins, and a host of relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Friday, November 24, from 5-7 p.m. at Howard Funeral Home in Gloucester, Va. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, November 25 at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Cobbs Creek, Va., with a viewing two hours before the celebration.

Howard Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
