A funeral for Robert Daniel Riggan, 81, of Gloucester, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Andrews Funeral Home, Gloucester. He died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013.

He was born in Mingo County, W.Va., to the late William Ira and Myrtle Cox Riggan and was the widower of Ellen Jannette Catalan Riggan.

He retired from the Gloucester County Public School System in 1991 after 29 years of service as a teacher at Gloucester High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #75 in Gloucester.

Survivors include his children, Robert Riggan of Fredericksburg, Va., Dawn Riggan of Gloucester, and William Riggan of Cumming, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Newington Baptist Church Cemetery.
