Robert (Bob) E. Saunders, 87, of Gloucester, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022.

After serving his country in the Air Force, Bob spent 35 years in a career with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a gentle family man who especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Traveling and gardening also brought him great joy. Bob was a devoted and long-standing member of Beech Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carol (Horton) Saunders; sons, Robert W. Saunders (Elizabeth), Tony Guylitto (June) and Thomas Saunders; grandchildren, Katherine Stover (Brandon), Jessica Lasris (David) and Colby Guylitto; five great-grandchildren, and two nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Evelyn Routtan Saunders; brothers, Alfred, Wesley, and Charles, and sister, Joyce Silva; daughter, Nanette Saunders, and granddaughter, Pamela Joy Saunders.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Beech Grove Baptist Church, White Marsh, Va.
