Riverside earns top marks in patient safety

Riverside Health announced late last month that three of its acute care hospitals have been nationally recognized for top marks in the Fall 2024 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade program.
Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Riverside Regional Medical Center and Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg each earned an ‘A’ safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent, nationwide organization dedicated to quality and safety measures in health care.
To analyze patient safety in hospitals across the country, The Leapfrog Group assigns a safety grade. The sliding grade scale uses 31 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and information from other supplemental data resources to assign a letter grade. This grading system is the only rating program focused on hospitals’ prevention of medical errors and other harm to patients in their care.
