RICHIE CARMINE

Richie Carmine sadly left us on December 26, 2023 after a brief illness. Richie was born on March 7, 1943 and spent the majority of her life in Gloucester, Virginia, dedicated to her family, friends, and community. Lovingly known as the “Cake Lady” throughout the county, many people will remember her for making their wedding, birthday, anniversary, and graduation cakes. Richie enriched the lives of her friends and community in many ways. After four years at Gloucester High School as a cheerleader, she went on to coach the cheerleaders at GHS during the late 1970s through the early 1980s. She is remembered fondly as one of the friendly faces who greeted you at Morgan’s Drug Store for nearly 20 years. She also spent many years working for Glo-Quips newspaper taking countless pictures of the local sports teams that she loved to support. In the 1990s she worked tirelessly behind the scenes supporting her loving husband Daniel’s Gloucester Auto Show. Richie is also known for sharing her artistic gift with others by creating hand-carved wood figurines, beautiful holiday decorations, and hand-knitted Christmas stockings. Richie will be remembered by everyone as one of the most loving, compassionate, and beautiful souls one could ever meet.

Richie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Daniel; her children, Stacy Carmine, DeDe Driver (Daniel), Kemper Carmine, as well as her “adopted” son, Robert Eldridge (Wan); her grandchildren, Brandi, Daniel Neil, Jaden, Reagan, and Kyndall, her great-grandchildren, Brayden and Landyn; her sister, Betty White; her sister-in-law, Martha Hudgins, and a host of nieces and nephews. She is also dearly missed and mourned by her sweet rescue pup, Pepper.

The family would like to send their gratitude to the staff of Riverside Hospice and her dear friend, Debra Parks, who lovingly cared for her in her final weeks of life. The family will receive friends at Andrews Funeral Home on Saturday, December 30 from 1-2:30. The funeral will be held at Bellamy United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 31 at 1 p.m. The family requests casual dress, if desired. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Hospitality Committee at Bellamy United Methodist Church.
