Richard Seabrook Farmer, 65, of Mathews, Va., passed away at his home on May 5, 2012 with his family by his side.
Born July 26, 1946 in Hampton, Va., he spent most of his life in his much loved Mathews County. Rick retired from the Naval Mine Warfare Engineering Activity, Yorktown, Va., after a long and distinguished career of government service.
Rick dearly loved his family and friends, and will be sadly missed by everybody that knew him. He was a wonderful Pop Pop to his five grandchildren who all cherished the generous time he spent with them and the life lessons that he taught them.
He loved the outdoors and especially loved riding horses and four wheelers and all the shooting sports. He was a member of the Pop Cauley Hunt Camp, the Rappahannock Pistol and Rifle Club, the Daisytown Sportsman Club, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Harriett Ann Smith Farmer. He is survived by Jean Klochak; his beloved children, Anne Marie Farmer, Dawn Hubof and her husband Greg, Joshua Klochak and his wife Jenny; his five grandchildren who were his special loves, Nathan, Gregory, Ashley, Lauren and Natalie; his brothers, Roy Lee Farmer and wife Peggy, and Jimmy Farmer and wife Vickie; his sister, Lynda Hickman and her husband Darryl, and many more family members, friends, and his dog "Sam."
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Old Field Point Cemetery, Moon, Va.
