Richard Carlton Selph, Jr., age 58, passed away on May 6, 2024, after a seven-year battle with cancer. He was born on April 26, 1966, in Richmond, Virginia, to Richard Carlton Selph, Sr. and Patricia Barlow. He leaves behind three adult children: Jesse Tyler Selph, Erin Nicole Selph, Maggie Elizabeth Selph; their mother, Katie Selph; two brothers, Derek Selph and Dennis Selph; stepmother Monica Selph and birth mother Patricia Barlow.
Anyone who knew him knew that he was all about his three kids. He was very involved in their lives including swim team support, band volunteer leadership, family vacations, gentle guidance and he always added fun to it all. If he had a motto, it would be: Faith, Family, Food and Fun. He fought the good fight for as long as he could in order to see his children become strong, independent adults.
He was very much like his father, Richard Selph, Sr. and now Rick is with his dad and Jesus. He is greatly missed but, as long as we live, he too will live because he is a part of us as we remember our times with him.
There will be a memorial service in honor of Rick on Saturday, June 8 at 2 p.m. at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church on Main Street, Gloucester, Virginia.
