Richard Anthony Hamlet Sr., age 79, passed away on June 12, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. Hamlet Sr. and Thelma Rudd Hamlet Munoz. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Layburn Hamlet; sons, Richard A. Hamlet Jr. (Cindy), Timothy Miles Hamlet, and Paul Randolph Hamlet; siblings, Walter C. Hamlet Jr., Alexandra E. Prevost (David), Thomas R. Hamlet (Sharon), and Joel J. Hamlet. Also surviving are grandson, Brandon S. Hamlet, and granddaughters, Heather G. Hamlet and Hailey N. Hamlet. Mr. Hamlet was part-owner of Hamlet Cleaners, a family business founded by his father in 1954. A Celebration of Life will take place at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, 7192 Main Street, Gloucester, Va., 23061 on Saturday, June 24 at 2 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service.
