Richard Allen Sheppard, 87, peacefully transitioned to Heaven during the early morning of Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Midstate Medical Center, Meriden, Conn. Formerly of Mathews, Virginia, Richard lived in Bridgeport, Conn., for 60 years.

He is survived by four daughters: Patricia Sheppard of Chesapeake, Va., Sharon Hayes (Cleo) of Mathews, Regina Sheppard Freeman of Middletown, Conn., and Anika Allen of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many who called him “Uncle Richard,” and other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Emmaus Baptist Church, North, Va., on Saturday, September 30, 2023. at 12 p.m. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.
