Lancashire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kilmarnock will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, for its recently-opened Rappahannock Memory Care Unit. The public will be able to see the unit and learn more about the center’s memory care program.
The secured unit has private and semi-private rooms to accommodate 25 individuals with cognitive impairments such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, said a press release. It is the only facility in the Northern Neck that offers memory care to Medicaid-qualified individuals.
The memory care unit has a large common area for dining, activities, and socializing near the nurses’ station, as well as a secured courtyard area, a family room, and a multi-sensory Snoezelen room, with calming music and lighting.
