The Rev. Carl Edward Holland, 71, of Hayes, who had faithfully shepherded his congregations for more than 30 years, was called home to his Lord on March 30, 2015.

The Rev. Mr. Holland was the author of five books and a Bible teaching scholar. He had been a broadcaster for WGH public radio. His last pastorate had been at the York Assembly of God Church. He was dedicated to his Lord, his church and family. The Rev. Mr. Holland was a Christian gentleman with a humble soul who enjoyed spreading the gospel and offering guidance. He will be missed by so many.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diane Holland; son, Danny Holland and wife Jamie; daughter, Chrysan Ashworth and husband Richard; four grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Ethan and Alana; and brother, Howie Holland and wife Marilyn.

The family greeted friends Wednesday, April 1, 2015, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Funeral service conducted by the Rev. Jerry Jutras will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2015, at York Assembly of God Church, Yorktown. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.
