Residents invited to provide input to county budget

Mathews residents who want a chance to have an impact on the county’s
2020-2021 budget are invited to attend the Mathews County Board of
Supervisors’ budget public input meeting next week. It will be held at 6
p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, in the historic courthouse on Court
Street. 
Board members will also convene at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in the historic courthouse for the regular monthly meeting.
Budget public input meeting
County Administrator Mindy Conner said she encourages residents to
attend the public input meeting on the budget to share their opinions
about budget matters early in the budget process. By the time the public
hearing is held in April, she said, it’s too late to make significant
changes.
“The public hearing is a statutory requirement,” she said. “It’s not helpful for planning the budget.”
In addition to residents, the public input meeting provides an
opportunity for organizations and outside agencies to present their
budget requests to the board of supervisors. ...
