Repair work underway on Rt. 17 bridge at Dragon Run

Route 17 northbound is reduced to a single lane at the bridge over Dragon Run at the Gloucester County and Middlesex County line for emergency repairs to fix damage caused by a vehicle crash around noon on Monday, VDOT reported.
The Route 17 northbound right lane is closed to provide space for crews to repair around 60 feet of bridge rail damaged in the crash. Additionally, around 275 feet of guardrail was damaged north and south of the bridge.
Virginia Department of Transportation crews inspected the bridge after the crash. The left Route 17 northbound lane remains open to traffic on the Dragon Run bridge. Southbound Route 17 traffic crosses Dragon Run on a separate bridge and both southbound lanes remain open.
Repair work is anticipated to continue through the remainder of this week. Updates on the status of Route 17 northbound will be available through 511Virginia.
