Renovations underway for Main Street special event center

Renovations are underway for the new special event center that is coming to Gloucester’s Main Street.
The Vault on Main, owned by Steward Charles Smith, will be going in the building that once housed the Bank of Gloucester, United Virginia Bank, Crestar Bank, and then SunTrust Bank.
Smith purchased the property in 2022 after the building was bought by the Gloucester Revolving Loan Fund in 2018.
“At this point, we are kind of in our demolition phase where we are really opening it up and seeing how much space we can reutilize of the area so that it can be as open as possible so people can really use it however they need to,” said Michelle Sanderson, property manager for Smith Realty.
Sanderson added that they want to maintain the architectural integrity of the building while also seeing how much space of the building that they can utilize.
