The Bay School Community Arts Center will host a Gathering of Remembrance for founder Wendy Wells-Finn at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, in the Art Speaks Gallery on Main Street. Wells-Finn, who passed away in August, founded The Bay School in 1997 as the Mathews County School for Country Arts. Classes began at the West Mathews Civic League in Bohannon in 1997, and the school was briefly housed at 122 Main Street before moving to its current location in 2001 Friends of Wells-Finn are invited to share stories and memories of her and her time in Mathews. Anyone who has artwork she created is welcome to bring it to display during the gathering.
