Registration is now open for Mathews County’s annual Christmas Parade, to be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, in downtown Mathews, beginning at Thomas Hunter Middle School and ending at Chesapeake Bank.
Sponsored by the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center, this year’s parade is themed “Blue Crab Christmas,” and entrants are invited to make a float or other type of entry celebrating this Chesapeake Bay delight. Prizes will be awarded in the categories of Civic, Animal, Walking Unit, School, Commercial, Motorized, Church, Parade Theme, and Antique Vehicle.
The parade will take place rain or shine, and there is no rain date if it is cancelled due to inclement weather.
Registration is due no later than Dec. 2, and there is no entry fee.
Registration forms are available at the visitor’s center, 239 Main Street in the old Sibley’s General Store.
