Registration for the Friends of the Dragon Run Spring Paddle Tours begins Saturday. This year’s tours are offered from April 18 through May 22, excluding Wednesdays (weather permitting).
More information is available at www.dragonrun.org.
These kayak trips are for persons 18 and older. A $60 donation is requested. Each trip is three hours and led by a nature guide who describes the Dragon Run and its unique ecological significance. The Friends of the Dragon Run provides all of the equipment needed for the trip.
Participants can observe the work of the work of the beaver, bald cypress trees, a variety of birds (including the Prothonotary warbler), fish, butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers. Contributions will help the Friends of Dragon Run to continue its efforts to preserve this important place on Virginia’s Middle Peninsula, a release stated. Paddles will depart from the Big Island Complex, which is located in Church View in Middlesex County.
