FONDUE
2 lb. powdered sugar
1 stick butter, softened
1-1½ tsp. vanilla
3 oz. evaporated milk or heavy whipping cream or more to reach the right consistency
Mix all ingredients together blending well. Add more milk if needed. Wrap a piece around each cherry.
CHOCOLATE
Start with 36-oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips and wax. (The box of wax has four bars. Use one bar per mixing.) Melt wax in double boiler before adding the chocolate chips. Heat until chocolate is melted and blended with wax. Let mixture cool a little before dipping the cherries.
Many online sites will provide other ways to make your own chocolate-covered cherries.
