Reception Friday at TAG

Aquatic Reverie, an exhibit by experimental artist Ronda Rotz, will open with a reception from 6:30-7 p.m. Friday at the Tappahannock Artists Guild, 200 Prince Street, Tappahannock.
The opening is part of Date Night in Tappahannock, when visitors can walk from a wine tasting held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Act XII Wine and Provisions, 221 Church Lane, to TAG for the art opening, and finally to the 1710 Tavern at 314 South Water Lane for dinner.
Rotz uses a cross-disciplinary approach to her art, said a press release, often incorporating hand-painted papers into layered, textured collages that merge painting and assemblage techniques. Her abstract compositions are inspired by the colors, textures, and organic shapes found in the natural world. Water often plays a key role.
Rotz is an active member of Tappahannock’s local art community and an advocate for the importance of art education and accessibility.
