The nonprofit literacy organization Read Rise and Shine, Inc., recently donated a book cart and books to Riverside Lifelong Health and Rehabilitation in Mathews to create a rolling library for the facility’s residents. Read, Rise and Shine was formed locally in 2020 to provide books and other reading materials and resources to communities in need. To date, the organization has donated over 10,000 books and handwritten greeting cards, as well as numerous book carts, to veteran’s hospitals, state mental institutions, and other medical facilities throughout Virginia.
