Rappahannock Community College is holding two upcoming information sessions designed to empower foster youth for college success.
The first will be held this Saturday at the Warsaw campus student lounge from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The second event is scheduled for the following Friday, Jan. 17, at the Glenns campus student lounge from 9 a.m. until noon.
Foster youth can learn more about Great Expectations, which is a program that provides financial resources and academic support for students affiliated with the Virginia Foster Care System.
After joining Great Expectations, students will be assigned a college navigator who will work with the student to assess their skills and interests, talk about their future and make a plan to enroll in college.
The navigator will assist students every step of the way, including help with filling out college applications, finding ways to cover expenses and arranging transportation between home, school and work.
