Raymond Patrick "Pete" Owen, 65, of Gloucester, died Dec. 15, 2011 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Pete was retired from the U.S. Army after 25 years of service to his country. He was a Master Sergeant, serving in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm, receiving numerous medals including the Purple Heart. In the eyes of his wife, he was and always will be her hero.
He is survived by his wife, Dobrila "Debbie" Owen; daughter, Natasha Thomas; step-son, Marijan "Mario" Bacic; granddaughters, Dominique, Zorana and Dejana; sister, Jane Hale; family friends, David and Jackie Boyd, and Scott and Bonnie Ambrose.
Graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, Va. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery.
