RAYMEL MAIN STEIN

Raymel Main Stein of Hartfield, a Godly mother, Granny and Gigi, left this world peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, and is now in the loving eternal presence of God where she has been reunited with Raymond, her cherished husband and dearest friend of 62 years.

Born in Roanoke, she treasured the mountains, but later she relocated to Hampton, Va., where she met the love of her life at a Christian youth rally, beginning their lives together as a God-fearing couple; Raymond brought her what she described as “heaven on earth” until his very last day. Raymel loved serving God, being a homemaker and is known by all for being a fantastic cook, a loving mother, and having an angelic solo voice. Singing in the church and community choirs brought her great joy, as did revering in the accomplishments of her grandchildren and great-grands.

Her life was well-lived and well-traveled from sea to sea, the mountains to the beach. And as the matriarch of the family, she instilled her values deeply. We take solace in knowing she is in her heavenly home, and we will one day see her again.

She will be dearly missed by friends and family, especially her children, Mitzie and Allan; beloved daughter-in-law, Shirley; grandchildren, Braden (Cameron and Colt) Miller, Kaytlyn (Ryan and Kara) Schleef, Brennen (Kerighan) Miller, Ashland (Patrick, Jackson and Liliana) Burch, as well as Kallie (Ryan and Caroline) Roberts. She also leaves behind a dear caretaker, Lori; a host of other nieces, nephews and her Petsworth Church family. In lieu of flowers, Raymel requested that donations be made to the Missions of Petsworth Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Bristow Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lower United Methodist Church Cemetery, Hartfield, Va.

Faulkner Funeral Home, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, is assisting the family.
