A free two-day Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) class is being offered by the Mid-Tidewater affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness from 1–5:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, March 22 and 23, at the DAV building, 6245 Professional Drive, Gloucester.
The class has its foundations in education and awareness and will be taught by a certified RAD instructor, said a press release. It includes a lecture, discussion, and self-defense techniques suitable for women over 16 years of age and of all abilities. Those under age 18 who would like to participate must have a written permission form signed by a parent or guardian.
Participants need to be aware that the lecture and discussion will include the topics of rape and assault and could be triggering, said the release.
Class size is limited to eight participants, so sign-up is encouraged as soon as possible.
