A raku firing fundraiser will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews.
Tickets are $30 and may be purchased online in advance, with an assigned time slot. They will also be available at the school on the day of the firing. Children are welcome with an adult. The process takes about two hours, said a press release.
The rain date is Saturday, April 22.
Raku is a ceramic firing process that produces flashy, metallic-looking pottery in a short amount of time, said the release. Ready-to-glaze pots made by members of the Clay by the Bay Ceramics Guild will be provided to participants. Ticket holders will select a pot, glaze it with assistance from a volunteer potter, and then watch the pot be fired. The event is family-friendly and perfect for groups of friends, said the release. The pots are decorative rather than practical. They will not be food-safe and will not hold water.
This event takes place during Mathews Markets ...
