Rachel Abernathy Paulson Pearson, age 93, of Lawrenceville, Va., passed away Sept. 18, 2014.

Rachel was a public school teacher for Prince Edward, Cumberland, and Gloucester counties for 35 years. She enjoyed the companionship of her pets, Bitsy, Patty, and Dumpling.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest H. Paulson Sr. (1942-1988) and Charlie E. Pearson (2003-2010); her son, Ernest “Ernie” Paulson Jr.; her brothers, Heartwell, Harry, Alwyn, and Cloud Abernathy, and her sisters, Susie A. Jones and Estelle Murray.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jackie Paulson; her sister, Edith A. House; her brother, Francis Abernathy; sisters-in-law, Jean and Estelle Abernathy; her step-children, Morris Pearson (Jan) and sons, and Bonnie Pearson and family, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Home with interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Lawrenceville. The family received friends Saturday from 2-3, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
