Quilters and sewists on the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula are encouraged to make quilt tops and placemats for local community residents at a pair of Community Sew-cials on July 18 and 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at sew-cials partner, Irvington Baptist Church.
Irvington-based quilt shop Sewlovelee is dedicating two sew-cials—community gatherings for quilters and sewists to sew, chat, seek advice, and support one another—to others. On Tuesday, July 18, sew-cial attendees will make several quilt tops to be donated to Sewlovelee’s quilt drive for children served by The Haven in Warsaw.
On Tuesday, July 25, sew-cial attendees will celebrate Christmas in July and kick off the shop’s effort to collect more than 80 handmade placemats for Lancaster and Northumberland County residents participating in Meals on Wheels via Interfaith Service Council. Sewlovelee is providing a free placemat pattern.
