Quillie, Robert Countis win $1,000 in Big Bash Classic

Quillie and Robert Countis won the $1,000 first-place prize in the Big Bash Classic bass tournament held Saturday at Beaverdam Park. The winners had a 14-pound, seven-ounce catch. Second place and $400 went to Jerry Jenkins and Ricky West with a catch of 10 pounds, nine ounces and third place and $300 was won by Bubba West Jr. and Matt Marshall with nine pounds, five ounces.

The big fish of the tournament weighed four pounds, 13 ounces and was registered by West and Marshall. The Angler of the Year award, which included a $200 prize, went to Rudy and Daniel Michaud for the largest catch overall by weight in the bass tournament series.

Beaverdam Park supervisor Blair Evans said windy conditions and cooler temperatures made the fishing a little more difficult Saturday, but the seasoned Beaverdam fishermen were familiar with the lake and the spots for catching the nicer-sized bass.
