The Gloucester Ruritan Club conducted its first quarterly cleanup of 2023 on Saturday, after a five-month hiatus. Eight volunteers spent a total of 20 hours cleaning their adopted section of Farys Mill Road. They amassed 28 bags of roadside litter. Shown here is club president Henry “Hurricane” Thompson, who is also the organizer of this Adopt-A-Highway Virginia Department of Transportation environmental project, posing with a portion of their haul. Other volunteers included Ruritan members Harry Thomas, Barbara Bauer, Bunny and Mike Ekdahl, as well as concerned neighbors Danny and Susan Walton Fary.
