Quality first

I am concerned when any candidate for the Gloucester School Board states that the first plank of their campaign platform is to “Remove divisive concepts like Critical Race Theory and Transgender Ideology from the class room” or similar positions of other candidates. (See 10/5/23 Gazette-Journal full page advertisements, Post, Engquist, Baker, Seabolt, Nash.)
I always believed that school boards should prioritize excellent student education, quality teachers and efficient use of school budgets.
Before voting, residents should review a candidates’ priorities and elect board members whose major responsibility will be to ensure the graduation of quality students in Gloucester schools.
