Gloucester High School grappler Devon Pullen capped his sophomore season Friday with an appearance in the VHSL Group AAA State Wrestling Tournament at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake.
Pullen, wrestling at 170, defeated a Patrick Henry High School wrestler, 14-10, before being pinned by a grappler from Forest Park High School in 3:55 in the quarterfinals.
Pullen was one of three Peninsula District wrestlers in the state event. A wrestler from Hampton was ousted in the first round while a grappler from Kecoughtan also made it to the quarterfinals before losing.
