Public invited to Yorktown July 4 celebration

The public is invited to Yorktown’s 45th Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 4.
This free event includes activities on Historic Main Street and along the waterfront at Riverwalk Landing. Also, visitors can take advantage of special programming at the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown (free for York County, James City County, and City of Williamsburg residents) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The celebration begins at 8 a.m. with the Yorktown Independence Day 8K/5K Run/Walk (virtual and in-person). Race day registration and packet distribution begins at 7. Medals will be distributed at the 8K finish line for the first 450 registered runners. The event begins and ends at the lot next to the York High School tennis courts.
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 824 will host the patriotic parade, starting at 9 on Water and Main streets. Festive music will be provided by DJ Ben Herrick.
