Protests against racism planned here

The killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American man, on a Minneapolis street at the hands of police on Memorial Day has resulted in a series of protests, some peaceful and others not, across America as the country once again grapples with the deep-seated issue of racism.

In addition to the protests, a unity motorcycle ride will be held Saturday, starting in Mathews and ending at the Gloucester Walmart.

Participants will meet at the church and walk to the Gloucester courthouse for some brief remarks, then proceed back to Main Street, around the court circle, and down Main Street to the stoplight.
