Program Monday on Gloucester’s country stores

The Gloucester Genealogical Society of Virginia will meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the Community Room of the Gloucester Library, Main Street Center.
The program, “Gloucester’s Country Stores and Their Related Communities” will be presented by Sidney Ripley. The presentation will feature images and descriptions of several of Gloucester’s country stores; the key players of these businesses, the specific local communities the stores served and will further describe the store’s vital connection to that particular community.
Ripley is a Museum Specialist at the Gloucester Museum of History. She is a 2020 graduate of Radford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Museum Studies. She is working on a master’s degree in Museum Studies at Harvard Extension School, and enjoys research, local stories, and social history. A Gloucester native, she loves sharing and learning Gloucester’s rich history.
