Retired Virginia State Police Trooper Keith Morris and criminal defense attorney Bill Johnson want to make sure women are prepared to defend themselves if threatened by an attacker, so their business, Eaglewing Knife & Tool, has developed a special line of knives for women.
The knives come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but two of the models are especially suitable for the intended purpose. The Lady Talon, a push dagger composed of a slender blade with a perpendicular handle, is designed to provide maximum striking force. The narrow handle, or grip, is shaped to fit across the palm of the hand, extending between the first two fingers of a closed fist with only the blade exposed, so the force of the entire arm is behind the jab.
The newer Mushroom Talon has a similar blade and similar thrusting power, but the handle is much smaller, consisting of a mushroom-shaped knob that fits entirely within the palm. Johnson, who holds a first-degree black belt in karate, demonstrated its use...
