An accident on Main Street last Thursday afternoon left 1,921 customers without power for 33 minutes when a vehicle hit a Dominion Energy pole and it broke into several pieces. Dominion spokesman Craig Carper said it took longer than that to fix the pole, but workers were able to restore power to customers and provide protection for the workers while the repair was underway. Dominion crews are shown here working on restoring power. The accident occurred at 10:26 a.m., said Virginia State Police Sgt. J.A. Teagle. He said a 2000 Chevrolet Express Van registered in North Carolina was traveling toward the Court House area when it ran off the right side of the road and struck the utility pole. The driver, a North Carolina resident who was not injured and did not remember hitting the pole, was issued a summons for reckless driving.
