Local Knights of Columbus Council 9428 (Church of St. Therese) raised $400 on Saturday morning with a Special Olympics Polar Plunge event at Gloucester Point beach. The funds go to the Special Olympics of Virginia. Knights councils that cannot get to the annual Knights’ Polar Plunge in Virginia Beach accomplish their own plunge at a local beach. This year, Financial Secretary Eric Anderson and Grand Knight Eric Scott, from left, plunged into the cold waters of the York River at 8 a.m. to earn their council members’ donations. The Virginia Knights for Special Olympics have raised over $1,000,000 since 2013.
