Arts on Main will host a plein air workshop by Dutch artist Carole Böggemann Peirson from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Gloucester Main Street studio.
The workshop, for beginning and intermediate students, will discuss the importance of values (versus color), how to see the right values in nature and how to create a value pattern (“notan”) in artwork, a release stated.
The goal is not to go home with a finished masterpiece, but to study and practice through a demonstration, examples, exercises and hand-outs, with plenty of personal attention. Participants are also invited to bring their work for a private critique if they like. The cost is $125 (supplies not included). For more information and to register, visit www.gloucesterarts.org or call 804-824-9464.
