Players to present comedy March 23-26

“The Day They Kidnapped the Pope,” a comedy by João Bethencourt, will be presented by the Court House Players Thursday through Sunday, March 23-26, at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, Hudgins.
This delightfully quirky tale is about a New York taxi driver named Sam Leibowitz (John Dempsey) who unexpectedly finds himself in possession of a very important person—Pope Albert IV (Chris Knoller). The Pope has stumbled into Sam’s cab quite by accident, and Sam, never one to let an opportunity go by, kidnaps his fare and takes him home, where wife Sara (Sherry Brewer) and children Irving (Tristan Emerson) and Miriam (Ashton Emerson) have no clue that their lives are going to be thrown into disarray.
When the local news station receives Sam’s ransom note demanding 24 hours of peace around the world in exchange for the Pope’s release, the Leibowitz family finds itself at the center of an international incident.
Supporting cast members include Frank Connelly...
