Planning is underway for May Faire 2024, a spring heritage festival put on by the Mathews Historical Museum and which will be held for the sixth year.
The theme for May 4, 2024, is “A Rural Life.”
The festival will be held on and around Mathews Court Green, and at the museum, which is located at 200 Main Street.
May Faire 2024 chair Barbara Bass said the event will be “very much like an old-fashioned county fair. It will provide an opportunity to remember and celebrate the past and raise awareness of our greatest historical treasures and peoples. We anticipate a variety of educational booths as well as our traditional events.”
The committee is planning activities to reflect the county’s agricultural heritage, a release said. Plans include musical performances by local school children, an archaeological dig, CA&J Farm bringing chicks timed to hatch during May Faire, traditional May Pole dance, arts and crafts booths, and displays of agricultural implements.
