With summer in full swing, heading to the beach for some sunshine and a refreshing swim can sound too tempting to resist. However, it’s important to know the risks that come with this warm season.
According to the Virginia Department of Health, “prolonged exposure to heat can cause cramping, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even death.” It’s important to take the necessary precautions to have a safe and enjoyable beach experience. Make sure to keep the right essentials on hand for that perfect summer beach day.
Hydration and nutrition
Staying hydrated is crucial for spending time in the sun. Make sure to bring enough water for each person on the beach trip, pets included, and drink it regularly to prevent dehydration.
