Planners move forward with solar hearing next month

The Gloucester County Planning Commission met July 1 to discuss revisions for the solar facilities draft ordinance.Even though the revisions were not up for public hearing, many residents voiced their support of the potential solar ordinance revisions and expressed their disdain for solar projects in general.
“I would like to express support for the revision of the solar ordinance,” wrote Olivia Tautkus of the York Magisterial District in a letter to the commission. “I have attended meetings and seen the careful deliberations that have gone into the revisions. Nothing is perfect but the revisions go a long way to clarify ambiguities and address concerns about solar by the majority of Gloucester citizens. The revisions help incorporate a very sensible approach for solar which does not place industrial scale solar close to neighbors but in more appropriate areas and with development ceilings which help maintain the rural character of Gloucester.”
