The Mathews County Planning Commission, meeting last Tuesday, voted to recommend that the board of supervisors approve a conditional use permit for a dog grooming studio in the Glebe.
Shannon Jones of 347 Baby Lane applied for the CUP in June, but the application had been on hold because she had not submitted a wastewater characterization to the health department to help determine whether her residential septic system could handle the additional flow. She submitted the characterization Tuesday morning, according to Mathews Planning and Zoning Director James Knighton.
In her application, Jones said she would only groom three or four dogs a day Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The business would have no employees, she said, and customers would be accepted by appointment only.
Knighton recommended approval of the CUP on the condition that Jones receive approval from the health department.
The vote on the matter was 6–1, with Byron Rauch dissenting.
