The jon boat belonging to Timothy “Pirate Daddy” Henderson of Orlando, Florida, who went missing on Sunday, Nov. 24, after spotted heading toward Hole in the Wall from the western side of Gwynn’s Island, was found submerged in waters off Lilley’s Neck last Thursday. Henderson was not in the boat and is still missing.
PA1 Jonathan Lally of the U.S. Coast Guard 5th District Public Affairs Office said on Tuesday that a Good Samaritan had reported around 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, that they had found the boat. He said the Virginia Marine Resources Commission subsequently retrieved it.
Lt. Luke W. Pinneo of the same office said in an earlier email that Coast Guard crews from three different stations had spent 52.5 hours and covered 601 square miles searching for Henderson after he was reported missing. They were assisted by VMRC, the City of Poquoson Fire and Rescue, and Mathews County. The search was suspended on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 1:24 p.m.
