Arts on Main will open the exhibit “Pictures of You” at this month’s First Friday, to be held from 6-8 p.m. tomorrow at the gallery on Main Street. It is free and open to the public, with beer, wine and paninis available. The exhibition runs for throughout the month.
This exhibition of works by Alexandria Moulenbelt includes architecture, landscape, and figures, all conveyed with a strong feminist voice. Moulenbelt is known for creating visual dreamscapes using a unique combination of monoprint, collage, and acrylic paint. Her work is a form of abstract expressionism and includes striking use of color and texture, a release said.
Outside the studio, Moulenbelt is a special education teacher in Gloucester as well as a mother of teens (and dogs). She recently returned from a summer residency in Orquevaux, France, where she explored new subjects and exchanged ideas and techniques with artists from all over the world.
