SNOW CREAM

Taken from the family cookbook
2 cans Carnation milk
1 c. real milk
¾ c. sugar
4 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix all ingredients together and cook until it begins to thicken. Cool and then add the snow.
SPICED PICKLED BEETS
9 lb. small beets
1 Tbs. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 c. sugar
1 Tbs. pickling spice (tied in a bag)
1½ tsp. salt
3½ c. vinegar
Cook beets until tender. Take skin off and cut into pieces if too large to use whole. Bring sugar, vinegar, spices, salt and 1½ c. water to a boil and then simmer for 15 minutes. Pack beets in sterilized jars and pour boiling liquid over beets. Seal at once.
STRAWBERRY JAM
5 c. strawberries
7 c. sugar
1 box Sure-Jell
Cap and wash strawberries. Cut in small pieces. Put in a kettle with 3 Tbs. water and a pat of butter (butter keeps down foam) and simmer for 5 minutes or until berries are soft. Pour into blender an...
