“It’s like a giant homeowner’s association without rules.”
That fitting description of the Piankatank Community League came from longtime member Phil Olekszyk. The beloved organization has been a fixture of the Harcum area for more than half a century.
Laura Frick, rental director and social media coordinator, has taken over most of the duties from Olekszyk, including rental coordination, advertising, building repairs and maintenance, and litter pick-up. She, along with her husband Glen Frick, updated the PCL building by repainting and modernizing the building, both inside and out.
“We did a lot of maintenance work,” said Laura.
The organization also installed heat pumps, insulated the ceiling, repaired the roof, renovated the bathroom, upgraded the kitchen, received new appliances and recovered the chairs.
Since the PCL is a nonprofit organization, there were no funds for maintenance. A lot of supplies were donated to PCL to make the necessary repairs.
