Petsworth Elementary School fifth grade students from the school’s Student Council Association and Anchored 4 Life joined military-connected students to hang bird feeders around school grounds.
The bird-feeders were made by Patriots on the Homefront, Petsworth’s student support group for children of military families.
Student leaders in the Anchored 4 Life program and the Student Council Association have worked closely together since school counselor Elaine Haislip launched them in 2021.
Anchored 4 Life welcomes new students to the school while making the transition easier. This includes supporting students with parents who are or have been deployed.
The two groups working together is part of Haislip’s goal of uniting non-military kids with military kids.
“When these groups work together, they have a great deal of fun and it helps me to know that these groups will continue to do great things at Petsworth,” said Haislip.
