Mathews County Treasurer Wendy Stewart reminds residents that the deadline for personal property tax payments has been extended to Monday, Feb. 6, and that the tax bills they received from the county are correct and due in full on or before that date.
The extended time for payment was the result of action taken by the Mathews County Board of Supervisors at a meeting held on Dec. 6. The board also decided at that time not to eliminate the $25 vehicle license fee assessed annually on all vehicle owners.
At the regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 20, the board also made the decision not to increase the amount of personal property tax relief for residents, leaving it at 35 percent of the first $20,000 of the vehicle’s value.
